Before you join

Adult beginners

Beginners are welcome. Warwick SU requires three separate purchases: the appropriate club pass, Sports Federation membership and Canoe membership. Associate applications from staff or other eligible non-students need several approvals, so access is not automatic.

Junior paddlers

Under-18s cannot use Warwick SU's standard membership checkout. A separate application is available, but neither the union guidance nor the canoe pages promise a junior place or set out supervision. Contact both organisations before planning a visit.

Equipment

For whitewater trips, the club says it supplies a kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid, helmet, spraydeck, semi-dry cag and wetsuit in available sizes. Paddlers must bring suitable clothing, footwear and the personal items listed for their trip.

Accessibility

At the university pool, published facilities include a pool pod, a moveable floor, gradient steps and gender-neutral or family changing. This does not establish transfer support during canoe sessions or access arrangements on whitewater trips. Discuss individual needs in advance.

Where the club paddles

Pool sessions use the Sports and Wellness Hub on the University of Warwick campus. Whitewater and surf trips travel elsewhere, and the published pages do not identify one permanent river meeting point. Follow the trip or session instructions you receive.
