Before you join

Adult beginners

Complete the guest form, then contact the club to request an event place. Guests may try two events; every day of a multi-day trip counts. Members use the club calendar after membership validation. Guest and membership declarations require a 50-metre swim and confidence in open water while wearing activity clothing. The membership year runs November to October. Confirm current fees and the form's season before paying.

Junior paddlers

Under-18s need a parent or carer to join as a full or non-paddling adult member. The form's youth section also requires adult accompaniment at events. Check who attends, whether they paddle and which session suits the child. No minimum child age is stated in the reviewed joining material. The swimming declaration remains relevant; a parent membership does not establish the child's paddling ability.

Equipment

Pool boats can be borrowed without a separate boat charge beyond pool entry. Outdoor river and sea kayaks are hired to members by advance arrangement with the equipment officer. Their listed kit includes a paddle, buoyancy aid and spraydeck. Confirm size, clothing and transport for the trip. Own boats brought to the pool need thorough cleaning inside and out; pool clothing advice is separate from an outdoor kit list.

Accessibility

Better lists wheelchair adaptations, accessible changing, a disabled toilet and accessible parking at Kendal Leisure Centre. It records eight disabled parking spaces. These describe the swimming venue. The reviewed club material does not establish an adapted kayak, a suitable transfer or individual assistance on river and sea trips. Discuss the practical support and chosen venue with the club before requesting a place.

Where the club paddles

Pool sessions use Kendal Leisure Centre on Burton Road, LA9 7HX. The area map covers Burton Road's swimming and leisure complex; no meeting door or outdoor put-in is marked. River, sea and canoe trips have their own meeting points and ability requirements. The owner says only trips on its calendar are club-supported. Confirm the event and arrival instructions rather than using a general pool timetable.
