Before you join
- Adult beginners
Request a membership form from the membership secretary. Joining requires club training or an existing recognised paddling award, followed by a coach session for applicants outside a course. The displayed June and July 2026 beginner dates are past. Ask about the next intake rather than treating those dates as open bookings.
- Junior paddlers
The constitution includes two adults and up to two children in family membership. The membership webpage describes that category as two adults at the same address. Confirm how a child can join and take part before applying. No minimum junior age or supervision arrangement is established by those sources.
- Equipment
Courses and club trips provide a boat, paddle, spraydeck, buoyancy aid and helmet. Bring your own clothing and footwear. The FAQ does not offer public boat storage; storage is reserved for coaches.
- Accessibility
The FAQ says the club can accommodate some disabilities, but cannot provide sessions requiring one-to-one care. Membership remains subject to individual and group safety. Discuss your requirements before enrolment. No reviewed source establishes an adapted launch or transfer equipment.
- Where the club paddles
The contact page places the club at the 22nd Oxford Sea Scouts, Meadow Lane off Donnington Bridge, Oxford OX4 4BJ. Its map identifies the club area, not a confirmed gate or launch entrance. Obtain arrival instructions for your session.
