Before you join

Adult beginners

The weekly programme includes Thursday beginner and improver sessions, Friday adult freestyle and Saturday beginner, river, whitewater, paddleboard and ladies-only options. Every club session must be booked in advance. The official pages disagree on whether temporary membership covers two or four sessions, so confirm the current limit before paying.

Junior paddlers

The timetable includes under-18 freestyle, slalom and paddleboard sessions, while polo and raft racing start above age 14. All-age beginner sessions are also listed, but no single minimum age is published. From October to March, a parent must remain available if a child becomes wet or cold.

Equipment

Full members can borrow club equipment during paid sessions, trips and competitions. Beginner sessions cost GBP 5 with club equipment, on top of the GBP 3 temporary membership charge. Bring warm non-cotton layers, footwear, dry clothes and shower kit.

Accessibility

The National Water Sports Centre lists accessible parking, step-free access to main reception, accessible toilets and accessible changing rooms, but no Changing Places facility. This does not establish waterside access, transfer help, adapted paddling equipment or support during a club session. Ask HPPCC about these points before reserving a session.

Where the club paddles

The club is based around the National Water Sports Centre's lake, river and whitewater facilities. Temporary membership does not include parking, while full membership includes parking for one car. Meeting points vary by activity, and all sessions require advance booking.
