Hexham Canoe Club

Hexham Canoe Club runs Saturday public sessions at Tyne Green from April to October. Adults and juniors from age eight can learn kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding, with coaching and equipment supplied.

Before you join

Adult beginners: Public sessions run at Tyne Green on Saturdays from 13:00 to 15:00 between April and October, with no booking required. A September 2026 notice lists GBP 12 for adult visitors and members free. The main website shows older, lower prices, so check the current charge before travelling.
Junior paddlers: Children can attend the Saturday sessions from age eight. The September 2026 notice lists GBP 8 for children. Published information omits consent, supervision and whether every group runs each week. Ask about the chosen week before setting off.
Equipment: Public-session equipment is supplied. Visitors should wear suitable clothing and footwear, then bring a change of clothes and a hot drink. Confirm clothing sizes and the craft available for the chosen session.
Accessibility: Paddle UK marks the club for Paddleability and lists changing facilities, a clubhouse, parking and toilets. The sources do not explain whether routes are step-free, how changing areas are laid out, or whether launch help and adapted craft are available. Ask before attending.
Where the club paddles: Outdoor sessions use Tyne Green from April to October. From November to March, Friday evening pool sessions use Wentworth Leisure Centre and must be booked. The wider country park has public toilets and free parking, but the club does not publish a verified arrival route to its boathouse.
