Before you join
- Adult beginners
The club caters to Heriot-Watt students from complete beginners to experienced paddlers. Current first-club prices are GBP 182.50 for the academic year, GBP 118.75 for semester one and GBP 88.75 for a returning semester-two place. Check the joining page before purchase.
- Junior paddlers
This is a university student club, with no separate junior route published. Students who are under 18 or anyone unsure about eligibility should email the club or Sports Union before buying membership.
- Equipment
The club does not publish what boats, paddles, safety kit or clothing are included with membership. Complete beginners are welcomed, but do not assume equipment is supplied. Ask about pool kit, river kit and transport before joining.
- Accessibility
Sessions move among the campus shed, Balerno pool, Pinkston and rivers or lochs. No current club page explains step-free travel, pool hoists, changing, transfer help or adapted craft. Ask about each venue before joining.
- Where the club paddles
Tuesday pool training runs from 19:00 to 20:30 at Balerno, with an 18:30 campus meet beside Oriam. Pinkston runs on the last Friday each month, while river or loch trips run every other Sunday. The marker is the campus rendezvous, not a paddling venue.
