Hereford Youth Canoe Club

Hereford Youth Canoe Club runs summer paddlesport sessions for 11 to 18-year-olds from the Pavilion at Castle Green. Volunteer coaches teach kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and water safety on the River Wye.

Before you join

Adult beginners: This is a youth club for ages 11 to 18. No adult membership route is published. Adults seeking their own paddling place should use a different club, while parents and guardians can email HYCC about a young person's place.
Junior paddlers: Volunteer qualified coaches run Thursday evening and Saturday morning sessions from May to September. The page covers ages 11 to 18 but does not publish fees, booking capacity, swim requirements or parent-attendance rules. Email before attending.
Equipment: No public kit list was found for youth sessions. Families should ask if suitable craft, safety gear and clothing are provided. They also need to confirm available sizes and what each young paddler must bring.
Accessibility: The refurbished Pavilion is described as fully accessible to all floors, with a lift to the first floor. This does not confirm an accessible route to the river, changing provision, transfer help or adapted craft. Discuss the full session journey with HYCC.
Where the club paddles: The club meets at the Pavilion on Castle Green beside the River Wye. The current host uses HR1 2NW, while the national directory says HR1 2NH. The area map deliberately avoids an exact entrance or launch. Follow the coach's arrival instructions.
