Before you join
- Adult beginners
Complete beginners can use the club's summer Learn to Paddle courses or suitable winter pool sessions. Experienced paddlers can ask about membership and coached activity. Read the events list or send an enquiry before turning up.
- Junior paddlers
The club runs separate junior beginner courses. It has no fixed starting age, but says children are often ready around age seven or eight. Size, coordination and confidence in the water matter more than age alone.
- Equipment
Beginner-course equipment is included. Club equipment is free during coached club activity, with course participants given priority. Stock, sizes and availability outside coached sessions are not promised.
- Accessibility
The national directory applies a Paddleability label. No checked page describes how a disabled paddler reaches the water, gets into a boat, borrows adapted equipment or receives hands-on help. Ask about the support you need before booking.
- Where the club paddles
Summer activity centres on Greenups Mill beside the River Calder. Members also use Warley Moor Reservoir through the sailing club. Winter pool sessions use a local pool that is not publicly named, so only the two verified outdoor places are mapped.
