Glasgow Kayak Club
Glasgow Kayak Club has two distinct routes into paddling. Adults aged 16 and over join its whitewater section at Pinkston, while children train for sprint and marathon racing from Firhill Basin.

Before you join
- Adult beginners
The whitewater section is for paddlers aged 16 or over who can swim competently. New visitors need Pinkston progression-course experience or confidence on Grade 2 rivers. Up to three club sessions can be tried before joining, but the club asks visitors to arrange and confirm the first one.
- Junior paddlers
The sprint and marathon section recruits children aged 8 to 12 and trains on the Forth and Clyde Canal at Firhill Basin. Its joining page said beginner places were full when reviewed. Families should ask when the next intake opens rather than arriving at a session.
- Equipment
Pinkston visitors can be fitted with a wetsuit, cag, boat, paddle, helmet and spraydeck. Members can also borrow river, sea and surf boats for club activity. Kit sizes and availability are not guaranteed, so tell the club what you need before attending.
- Accessibility
Paddle UK's record carries both PaddleAbility and disabled-facility flags. No practical description covers steps, the put-in, changing areas or adapted craft. Give the club your access needs when arranging a visit.
- Where the club paddles
Adult whitewater sessions use Pinkston Watersports, usually on three Tuesday evenings each month. Junior sprint and marathon activity uses Firhill Basin. The two maps show those separate bases; neither replaces the club's arrival instructions.
