Before you join
- Adult beginners
Experienced kayakers can ask for a suitable training group. Complete beginners can attend four novice sessions before deciding whether to join. Open canoeing has its own taster and beginner route, so contact the relevant section first.
- Junior paddlers
Kayaking starts from age nine. New junior tasters usually run in spring and may have a waiting list. Current junior and family memberships are available, but the club does not publish one age rule covering every canoe activity.
- Equipment
Kayak beginners can try club boats. Open canoe sessions supply canoes, paddles and buoyancy aids. Availability depends on the section and session, so arrange equipment before travelling rather than assuming general hire.
- Accessibility
Paddleability, disability sessions and accessible facilities appear in the national directory. Falcon also describes community outreach. A full accessible route, transfer support and the adaptive craft available are not documented.
- Where the club paddles
The Meadow Lane boathouse sits just upstream of Donnington Bridge. Kayak training uses the Thames, while open canoe outings also explore the Cherwell and Hinksey Stream. Session times differ by section and season.
