Before you join
- Adult beginners
A prospective member can arrange one free coached taster. Continued paddling requires membership, while Discover and Explore courses support newcomers and improvers across several types of craft.
- Junior paddlers
Junior minimum ages vary by activity, supervision and discipline, from age six for a specific accompanied daytime session to older thresholds for unaccompanied paddling. Young paddlers should be confident swimmers and follow the club's consent rules.
- Equipment
Members can use a large fleet of club boats and equipment. Core coaching is included, although pool use and external courses can cost extra. The club does not hire boats to the public, and private boat storage may have a waiting list.
- Accessibility
The clubhouse provides changing rooms and showers, and the national listing records Paddleability activity. A detailed step-free route, assisted launch process and adapted-craft list are not published, so contact the club about specific support.
- Where the club paddles
The Haven Road clubhouse sits beside the River Exe and Exeter Ship Canal. Coaching is offered across the week, while racing, tours, sea trips and whitewater activities use other venues and require the relevant competence.
