Edinburgh Kayak Club
Edinburgh Kayak Club is a recreational group with a strong whitewater focus and trips for different ability levels. Beginners can start at seasonal Tuesday pool or lagoon sessions before joining member river trips.

Before you join
- Adult beginners
New paddlers can book a pool or lagoon session and take part twice as unpaid members. Paid membership is required after that and before club river trips. Sessions welcome complete beginners as well as experienced paddlers.
- Junior paddlers
Children can attend pool and lagoon sessions when accompanied by a responsible adult. River trips have separate competence, supervision and consent requirements, so families must check the trip details before booking.
- Equipment
The club brings pool boats or a trailer of boats, paddles and kit to regular sessions. Pool users can borrow the required kit. Lagoon equipment hire is charged separately, while river-trip equipment must be arranged in advance.
- Accessibility
The club asks paddlers with additional needs to email its Equality and Diversity Champion before a first pool or lagoon session. It does not publish a venue-wide step-free or adaptive-equipment guide.
- Where the club paddles
Winter Tuesday sessions use Gracemount Leisure Centre. Summer Tuesday sessions move to Musselburgh Lagoons, with a beginner trip replacing the final lagoon session each month. Member river trips use changing meeting points around Scotland.
