Before you join
- Adult beginners
Use the owner's membership page and enquiry form to ask about the next pool trial. Pool and pricing pages allow up to three trials, while the joining page describes a single trial phase. Confirm the limit and payment arrangements. Adult membership says over 18 and junior membership under 18, leaving age 18 unclear. Country membership does not include regular pool or coaching sessions.
- Junior paddlers
The pool page welcomes children over eight, so confirm eligibility at age eight. Under-12s must have an adult participating or spectating. River trips have a separate rule: members over eight and under 16 need adult accompaniment and an invitation from the trip leader. Trip suitability depends on ability and conditions. Arrange supervision for the particular activity before enrolling a child.
- Equipment
Pool sessions list kayaks, paddles, helmets and buoyancy aids. Spraydeck use depends on ability. Bring swimwear, a T-shirt and a towel. Club members can borrow equipment for planned river trips by arranging it with the stores beforehand. The leader allocates safety equipment. Confirm clothing, fit and transport rather than treating pool provision as a complete outdoor kit list.
- Accessibility
Swim England's pool finder lists accessible parking, entrance, changing and toilets at Armthorpe Leisure Centre. These are venue facilities. The reviewed club pages do not establish adapted boats, kayak-transfer assistance, accessible outdoor launching or personal care. Explain your requirements to the club and pool before choosing a session.
- Where the club paddles
The pool venue is Armthorpe Leisure Centre on Mere Lane, DN3 2BZ. The owner also describes Lake Y opposite Hatfield Fishing Lakes for outdoor activity. Its home and membership pages say Thursday; the pool page says Tuesday. Confirm the session day and meeting point. The map shows the pool-building area only. It does not identify Lake Y or a club entrance.
