Before you join

Adult beginners: Membership is for adults aged 18 and over. Prospective paddlers can attend up to three training sessions before arranging the required Burnham Sailing Club on-the-water membership. Crouch Kayak Club also publishes its own annual subscription. Check current costs and make contact before attending.
Junior paddlers: Crouch Kayak Club accepts members aged 18 and over. Current club information gives no youth or family route, including for a child accompanied by an adult. Anyone seeking provision for younger paddlers will need an organisation that states its safeguarding and supervision arrangements.
Equipment: Weekly hire can include a kayak and paddle with a buoyancy aid, spraydeck and paddling jacket. The official kit page publishes separate member and visitor charges. Reserve the right equipment in advance and check what personal clothing the planned activity needs.
Accessibility: The sailing club advertises car parking, showers, changing space and a floating pontoon. It publishes no access statement covering gradients, toilets, transfers, modified craft or help on the pontoon. Explain what assistance is needed before choosing a session.
Where the club paddles: Wednesday club paddles use the River Crouch from Burnham Sailing Club between April and October, with participants meeting before the published launch time. Trips, pool training and courses use other locations. Conditions and club messages determine whether activity proceeds.
