Before you join

Adult beginners

The current fees page sets out individual and family membership for 2026 and directs applications to the membership email. Monday improver sessions use Alva, Tuesday training serves intermediate and advanced members, Thursday sessions use Pinkston, and weekend practice visits other Scottish slalom sites. Contact the club before attending training.

Junior paddlers

The 2026 pool and summer introduction programme is for children aged eight and over who can swim confidently. Pool sessions teach paddling, capsizing and games before outdoor activity. The club also runs beginner, improver and club classes for young paddlers, with families involved in the wider club.

Equipment

The club says beginner activity includes kayaks, paddles, helmets, buoyancy aids, wetsuits and wet shoes. This published list supports introductions but does not guarantee every size or item for ordinary member training, Pinkston sessions or trips. Confirm what to bring when booking.

Accessibility

The Alva site has paths, changing containers, a riverside shelter, floodlights and access points at both ends of the course. The checked pages do not state whether routes are step-free or whether accessible toilets, transfer assistance, specialist boats or one-to-one help are available. Discuss the paddler's requirements before booking.

Where the club paddles

Beginner and Tuesday activity uses the River Devon site between Alva and Fishcross. Monday improvers also train at Alva, Thursday sessions use Pinkston and weekend groups visit other slalom venues. Indoor beginner sessions use Bannockburn High School pool. Each booking or club message controls the location.
