Before you join

Adult beginners

The current Membermojo page says applications are disabled and asks prospective members to contact the membership secretary first about availability and what the club offers. Membership runs from 1 May to 30 April and active members need at least Paddle Cymru club-associate membership. Do not apply without checking first.

Junior paddlers

The current membership system uses a 1 May cutoff: junior members must still be younger than 18 on that date. A family membership can include six people, provided every child is under 18. No minimum paddling age is published. Beginners start with winter pool or designated novice sessions when space and support allow.

Equipment

Current membership information says members can use club boats and kit without a separate charge. The club website covers suitable clothing, safety gear and several types of boat. Neither source promises a particular size or item for every trip, so confirm availability and personal clothing before attending.

Accessibility

PaddleAbility activity appears in the national listing. Colwyn's own pages give no precise details for wheelchair routes, changing rooms, entering the pool, reaching outdoor water or adapted boats. Explain any mobility or support requirements to the club before deciding whether a particular venue works.

Where the club paddles

Friday winter sessions use Colwyn Leisure Centre and provide a controlled place for beginners to learn. Summer paddling moves between sea, lake and river venues around North Wales. Weather, water levels and available leaders decide each location, so the leisure-centre marker must not be treated as a year-round club base.
