Before you join

Adult beginners

Summer club nights run on Wednesdays while British Summer Time is in force. New paddlers are asked to arrive around 6pm for an approximately 6.15pm start, with the session ending near 9pm or dusk. Complete the current membership form and check the first-night page before attending.

Junior paddlers

The current 2026 programme advertises Saturday morning beginner sessions for children aged eight to 11, with limited places and qualified instructors. The first-night page asks parents not to leave under-16s unattended when nobody responsible is at the club. Confirm the correct session before booking.

Equipment

Club kit comes in different sizes and includes boats, buoyancy aids, helmets and paddles. Wetsuits are not supplied. New paddlers need suitable clothing, footwear, a towel and dry clothes as described on the first-night page. Confirm the right craft and safety kit for the planned activity.

Accessibility

The national listing records changing facilities, a clubhouse, equipment storage, a function room and parking. The club says help is available for unloading boats. Its published information does not establish the route for wheelchair users, accessible toilet provision, boarding assistance or adapted equipment. Ask about each requirement directly.

Where the club paddles

The clubhouse is the Old Pool Pump Room beside the River Colne, reached from Colne Bank Avenue. Summer Wednesday paddling uses the river, while members also arrange trips and monthly winter pool sessions. The reviewed pages do not name one permanent pool venue, so check each event notice.
