Before you join

Adult beginners

Prospective members can attend three club events before joining. Current annual fees are £38 for a Paddle UK adult or £48 without that membership. Family fees are £78 or £98. The 2026 lido programme also lists £25 adult tasters and £98 beginner courses, both requiring advance booking.

Junior paddlers

The summer junior group is aimed at ages 8 to 14, while beginner tasters and courses start at 11. Under-18s need a supervising parent or guardian. Current annual junior rates are £26 with one non-paddling parent or £28 with two. Session charges are separate.

Equipment

Members can borrow club boats, paddles and safety equipment without an extra hire fee. The lido page says boats are available in several sizes, including children's craft. What is available depends on the session, so visitors should state their age and experience when booking.

Accessibility

The reviewed club and lido pages do not explain step-free access to the pool edge, water transfers, adapted boats or individual support. The club welcomes a wide range of paddlers, but that is not enough to confirm a suitable route. Ask before paying or travelling.

Where the club paddles

The 2026 summer season runs at Sandford Parks Lido on Thursdays from 7:30pm to 9pm between 7 May and 20 August. The last two evenings finish earlier. Club members also paddle rivers and tour at weekends, with each trip setting its own ability, equipment and meeting requirements.
