Cheddar Watersports

Cheddar Watersports is Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club's paddlesports offer at Cheddar Reservoir. Visitors can book kayak and paddleboard tasters. Members may launch personal canoes, kayaks and SUPs under the reservoir's club access rules.

Before you join

Adult beginners: Visitors can book public kayak, SUP and SuperSUP tasters. Non-members cannot buy a general day pass or use the water independently. For regular access, apply to BCYC; committee review and payment come before membership and a gate key.
Junior paddlers: Family and parent-plus-children memberships are available, and the club describes its training as family-friendly. It also accepts bookings from schools and youth groups. No reviewed page states a universal paddling minimum age or supervision rule, so families should ask before booking.
Equipment: The current club page confirms ten SUPs for member hire at £5 an hour. It does not publish a current kayak or canoe hire fleet. Visitors should check what is included in a taster, while members bringing their own craft must wash it before launch.
Accessibility: Showers and storage are available in the clubhouse. Public information does not describe an accessible route from the gate to the water, toilet provision, help transferring into a craft, adapted boats or one-to-one assistance. Explain your needs to BCYC and confirm the full visit before booking.
Where the club paddles: BCYC uses a site on Cheddar Reservoir's north side. Summer access is available daily to members, dropping to four days weekly in winter. Club rules still apply, including the buddy system when no safety crew is operating. Visitors need a booked course or direct supervision by a member.
