Before you join

Adult beginners: Prospective members can use the facilities before joining and apply through the official form. Club sessions are peer paddling, not lessons, formal coaching or supervised activity. New paddlers should explain their experience and confirm whether a session suits them before arriving.
Junior paddlers: The site gives no lower age limit, junior joining route, parent-attendance policy or supervision ratio. These are peer-led sessions rather than coaching. Families need to establish whether the group can accommodate their young paddler in the expected river conditions.
Equipment: Members may use several open canoes. The national entry also records a clubhouse and equipment storage. Neither source promises beginner kayaks, clothing or safety kit, so ask what is available and what you must bring.
Accessibility: The national entry records changing facilities, parking and a clubhouse. Reaching the club involves a public slipway followed by a 700-metre upstream paddle. Where the club paddles: Peer-paddling sessions meet at Hambleden on Sundays from about 10.30am all year and Wednesdays from 6pm in summer. Whitewater depends on river flow and open sluices.
