Castle Canoe Club
At West Reservoir in north London, Castle Canoe Club gives adults a volunteer-run route into paddling. Beginners start with induction, then members can use kayaks, canoes and paddleboards, join trips, or play canoe polo.

Before you join
- Adult beginners
Induction costs £10 plus the booking fee and includes two later club visits. Membership runs to 31 March 2027 and costs £120 full or £60 concession, with lower October and January rates. Paddlers must be at least 18, swim 50 metres, and complete induction before joining.
- Junior paddlers
The membership and induction rules set 18 as the minimum paddling age, so KanuHQ treats this as an adult club. A separate guest section says guests may be 8 or older, which conflicts with that rule. Families need confirmation from the committee before planning a visit.
- Equipment
Members and inductees can use West Reservoir Centre craft and safety kit during club hours without an extra charge, including paddles, cags and buoyancy aids. Members can arrange off-site hire through the centre, which sets the price and conditions. Personal boat storage is not offered.
- Accessibility
The FAQ says the route into the club is over flat ground with ramp access, and that accessible changing and toilets are available. It does not describe the pontoon, assisted transfers, adapted craft or personal support. Contact the club about water access for the planned activity.
- Where the club paddles
Club hours are Sunday from 10am to 1pm all year and Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm in summer. The venue is West Reservoir Centre, entered past the climbing centre. Non-members book an induction first. Trips and pool sessions use other locations and require their own instructions.
