Before you join

Adult beginners

Beginners can pre-book a £10 Start Award taster, normally on Tuesday evenings from April to September. The club welcomes paddlers aged 10 or over who can swim 50 metres. Annual fees are £30 adult, £20 junior, student or unemployed, and £50 family, running from 1 April to 31 March.

Junior paddlers

Junior membership costs £20. The club's published entry rule starts at age 10 and requires a 50-metre swim. Its pages do not set out a full parent-attendance or coaching-ratio rule, so a parent should use the contact form to confirm supervision, available dates and the right taster.

Equipment

Beginner tasters include a suitable boat, paddle, buoyancy aid and helmet. Membership covers club facilities and equipment. Current members can request kit for external trips or courses, but club activity has priority, loans may be refused, and a parent or guardian accepts the terms for a junior.

Accessibility

The club states a commitment to equality, while the national directory lists Paddleability, changing facilities and parking. The reviewed pages do not explain step-free river access, transfers, adapted craft or individual help. Ask about the Sands route and chosen activity before booking.

Where the club paddles

Summer river sessions run behind the Sands Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm. Winter river sessions normally move to Saturday mornings from 10am to noon, with Thursday pool practice at Trinity Leisure Centre. Levels, demand and coach availability can change the plan.
