Before you join

Adult beginners

Joining has two parts. People first take Camping and Caravanning Club membership. They then phone its membership team to add the Canoe Section. The page still advertises £59 a year, split as £53 plus £6, but dates that instruction 1 May 2025. Confirm the current total before paying.

Junior paddlers

Families are encouraged. Children under 8 must stay in a parent's or delegated adult's direct charge. Ages 8 to 18 need an accompanying responsible adult at camp, subject to the published youth-test exception, and on the water. Parents also give consent, while the trip leader decides who may take part.

Equipment

The reviewed pages explain how to pack and attend trips but do not promise a shared national fleet or standard loan service. Meets range from day paddles to moving canoe camps, so ask the named coordinator which craft, safety kit, camping equipment and clothing you must supply.

Accessibility

Each meet has its own river, coast and campsite. None of the checked material sets a nationwide standard for step-free approaches, aided transfers, specialist craft or individual assistance. Ask the relevant regional coordinator how that exact venue can accommodate you.

Where the club paddles

Regional groups cover Dee and North West, Wales, West Country, Midlands, Hertsea, and Thames and South East. The live calendar controls dates and locations. Some trips require experience, and the organiser may change or restrict participation for conditions and ability. There is no single club map.
