Cambridge University Canoe Club

Cambridge University Canoe Club welcomes adult students, staff, affiliates and members of the public. It runs social paddles and canoe polo, competes in marathon and slalom, and organises flatwater and whitewater trips.

Before you join

Adult beginners: All published membership categories are for people aged 18 or over. One-year rates are £45 for Cambridge students, £50 for Cambridge staff, ARU students or NRC members, and £60 for the public. Four-year options cost £120, £140 and £160 respectively.
Junior paddlers: The current membership portal sets a minimum age of 18 for every advertised category. The reviewed sources do not offer junior membership or a children's session. Under-18s should not use the public registration route unless the club publishes a new eligible category.
Equipment: A July 2026 beginner course stated that membership covered equipment and participants only needed suitable wet clothing. That course has ended, so it is evidence of the club's beginner process rather than a current booking. Confirm kit and availability for the next session.
Accessibility: Neither the club portal nor the university profile explains step-free access to the narrow riverside path, changing provision, assisted water entry, adapted craft or personal support. Ask the club about the exact activity and route before joining or travelling.
Where the club paddles: A narrow riverside footpath runs from the gap beside the final house, past Skater's Meadow, to the club sheds. Weekly activity includes social paddles along Grantchester Meadows and canoe polo. Trips and competitions use other locations, so the live calendar or organiser's message takes priority.
