Cambridge Canoe Club

Cambridge Canoe Club is a large volunteer club at Sheep's Green. It welcomes beginners through courses or induction, then offers social trips, racing, sea touring, river paddling, open canoes and stand-up paddleboards.

Before you join

Adult beginners: Current annual rates are £85 for adults and £50 for students or concessions. A guest day costs £6. New paddlers normally take a course, while competent paddlers can request an induction. The 2026 beginner course costs £100 for adults and £75 for students or concessions.
Junior paddlers: Junior membership is £50 a year. Children under eight may only go afloat with a responsible adult, sharing either an open canoe or a two-person kayak. Kids Club serves ages 8 to 14 after Kids Start, usually on Sunday mornings from April to October. The 14 to 18 group runs on alternate Tuesdays in that season.
Equipment: The club says beginner-course fees include all equipment except clothing. Members can use a varied club fleet, including racing boats, Canadian canoes and stand-up paddleboards. Availability, sizing and the right craft still depend on the activity, competence and session leader.
Accessibility: None of the checked pages explains step-free routes, accessible changing, assisted transfers, modified boats or personal support. The exact clubhouse marker does not prove that every waterside route is suitable. Confirm the chosen course or session before booking.
Where the club paddles: The Sheep's Green clubhouse opens for regular sessions on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to noon all year. British Summer Time also brings Monday and Wednesday sessions from 6pm to 8pm. Courses, junior groups and trips have separate dates, capacity and booking rules.
