Before you join

Adult beginners

General CAG membership is free. Pool sessions are listed at £6 with £24 paid monthly in advance, or £8 pay as you go. The introductory visit is £5, with advance reservation and payment required. Paddle Cymru membership becomes compulsory after two sessions.

Junior paddlers

The pool programme starts at age 8. Participants need enough confidence in water to complete the club's swim check before entering a craft. The wider group welcomes families, but a parent should confirm spaces, supervision, payment and the right event before booking.

Equipment

Pool participants bring swimwear, a T-shirt or rash vest, a towel and dry clothes; the club says all other pool equipment is provided. For outdoor paddling it publishes craft, paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets as supplied, while personal clothing still follows the event kit list.

Accessibility

The club says it works with members of different ages, experience and ability. Neither its pages nor the council source explains whether either base has a step-free route, help entering the water, modified boats or dedicated assistance. Ask how the selected session can meet your needs.

Where the club paddles

The regular pool slot is Sunday from 5pm to 6pm during term time at Newbridge Leisure Centre. Outdoor sessions depend on conditions and may use Cwmcarn Forest Lake, Pen-y-Fan Pond or other trip locations. Always use the current booking or event email as the final instruction.
