Before you join

Adult beginners

Experienced paddlers first contact the club and attend an organised activity before receiving its online membership route. Beginners currently need an organised course; the June and July 2026 courses have finished, so ask about the next intake. The site quotes adult membership at £40 a year as of November 2024, which should be confirmed before paying.

Junior paddlers

Youth members can attend supervised pool sessions. At Bristol Harbour they need a responsible adult club member on the water and a parent or guardian present. Youth trips and competitions are by invitation and depend on skill, qualifications and maturity. The site quotes youth membership at £28, but labels its fee information as November 2024.

Equipment

Club equipment is available to members, and approved temporary harbour membership includes equipment, a harbour licence and third-party insurance for the activity. The club does not rent canoes or kayaks to the public. Members are expected to obtain their own equipment over time, and bookings go through the equipment officer.

Accessibility

No reviewed club page confirms step-free launch access, accessible changing, adapted craft or personal transfer support. Baltic Wharf has limited places to leave the water, and harbour conditions include changing water quality, temperature, wind and other traffic. Discuss access and safety with the relevant activity lead before attending.

Where the club paddles

The summer base is the Dutch Barn at Baltic Wharf, with organised club activity on Bristol Harbour. Winter sessions use Bristol South Swimming Pool on Dean Lane. The official pages currently conflict over the winter weekday, so use the activity programme or ask the club for the current time and meeting point.
