Before you join
- Adult beginners
New paddlers must already belong to Scouts or be prepared to enrol. Contact the unit secretary before attending. Volunteer coaches and instructors hold recognised Paddle UK qualifications and cover recreational and competitive paddling.
- Junior paddlers
The unit serves Scout Association members and supports both skills development and competition. Its current public pages do not give one age range or supervision rule for every activity, so a parent or leader should confirm the correct Scout route with the secretary.
- Equipment
The unit has an equipment coordinator and uses equipment at its Hinckley base. Some away events charge separately when a boat is required, and event pages may list limited boats to borrow. Availability is activity-specific and should be confirmed in advance.
- Accessibility
The reviewed unit and venue pages do not describe accessible facilities for Break Out sessions. This includes routes to the water, changing areas, adapted boats and help with transfers. Ask the secretary about access needs before joining.
- Where the club paddles
Hinckley Wharf is the unit's home training base. Current event forms also cover competition training and slalom events elsewhere. The site is not normally open to the public, so members should use the published event or leader instructions.
