Bradford on Avon Canoe Club

Before you join

Adult beginners: The beginner course has two sessions and costs £50, with club kayaks and equipment included. Its 2026 dates are still marked to be confirmed, so ask for a firm date before arranging travel. Current canoe membership is £16 per month for adults, £9.50 for full-time students and £12 for county members who live farther away.
Junior paddlers: The introduction to marathon racing is open from age 10. Junior canoe membership costs £9.50 per month for paddlers aged 18 or under on 1 January. The club has an active junior squad, but families should confirm coaching availability and the right training group before applying.
Equipment: The beginner-course fee includes a club kayak and equipment. Members can use single and double racing kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids while they develop. Private kayak racking is limited, charged separately and allocated first come, first served.
Accessibility: The club's published information does not confirm step-free bank access, accessible changing, adapted racing kayaks or personal transfer support. Racing kayaks can be unstable and the course is aimed at competitive paddling, so discuss practical needs with the club before applying.
Where the club paddles: Training uses the River Avon from Barton Bridge towards Avoncliff and through Bradford on Avon. The main coached session runs Saturday mornings all year, with extra Wednesday evening training from April to October.
