Before you join

Adult beginners

A coached taster or trial costs £20. The June-to-May membership year lists adults at £80, families at £120, volunteers or non-paddling guardians at £3 and people living outside Yorkshire at £40. Fees are calculated pro rata after August, and boat storage is £24 when space is available.

Junior paddlers

Junior membership costs £40 for paddlers under 18 on 31 December of the preceding year. An adult guardian must make every under-18 enquiry. Club nights mix ages and abilities, while other training may require a ranking, independence on the water or a coach invitation.

Equipment

Taster sessions provide kayaks, paddles, helmets and buoyancy aids. Visitors bring close-fitting non-cotton layers, suitable shoes and a dry change. Personal boat storage covers one boat and one paddle, is charged separately and depends on availability and active use.

Accessibility

The club promotes inclusion and the directory confirms changing facilities, cycle storage, equipment storage and parking. No reviewed source confirms step-free water entry, accessible changing, adapted craft or one-to-one support. Ask the organiser about the bank and rapid before booking.

Where the club paddles

The floodlit River Aire site has a grade-two rapid and permanent slalom gates. Thursday is the main club evening and Sunday usually includes a club morning, training or tasters. Other coached, pool, race and peer sessions run through the week, but the programme changes around trips and competitions.
