Before you join

Adult beginners

Beginners and intermediate paddlers can join. The club states that its leaders and coaches have qualifications accepted by Paddle Scotland or Paddle UK. Membership and event booking run through Spond, with the membership secretary providing a personal registration link.

Junior paddlers

The club publishes a family membership and has a named safeguarding officer. None of the reviewed pages gives a blanket minimum age, supervision rule or junior route for every activity. Parents should ask the club which sessions suit a young paddler.

Equipment

The Berwick base holds several sizes of sea kayak, paddles, buoyancy aids, helmets and some clothing. Kelso has river kayaks and open canoes, while boats are also kept near the pool. Loans depend on the activity and booking, and the club charges separately for some equipment use.

Accessibility

Kelso Swimming Pool lists disabled parking, disabled toilets and facilities for disabled visitors. Berwick Sailing Club reports larger gender-neutral changing and shower spaces after recent improvements. Neither venue source confirms adapted craft, transfer support or step-free water entry for a club session.

Where the club paddles

Sea activity normally starts from Berwick, river kayak and open canoe coaching commonly uses Kelso, and rescue practice can use Whiteadder Reservoir. Winter pool sessions take place in Kelso. Dates and exact meeting points vary, so the Spond event notice controls attendance.
