Before you join

Adult beginners

Beginners do not need prior paddlesport experience, but must be able to swim 25 metres. Non-members can attend up to four club sessions before joining and should email in advance with their ability level. Club trips are for members only.

Junior paddlers

The club welcomes all ages, but an under-18 must be accompanied by an adult. Its junior membership also requires a parent or guardian to be an adult member. Families should contact the club before a first visit to confirm the right session and supervision arrangements.

Equipment

At weekly sessions, visitors may use club-owned canoes and kayaks plus the necessary paddles and safety kit. At the reservoir it can also supply cag tops, helmets and personal flotation devices. Members may hire club boats and gear for trips for a small fee.

Accessibility

Sandwell Aquatics Centre lists nearby disabled parking, accessible toilets and changing, a Changing Places room, pool pods, a pool hoist, handrails and steps. The club does not say which pool it uses or promise transfer support. Reservoir changing is basic, with no individual cubicles or published step-free water access.

Where the club paddles

Tuesday sessions run at Sandwell Aquatics Centre from late September to late April, then at Edgbaston Reservoir from late April to late September. The pool has lockers, showers and changing cubicles. The reservoir has basic separate changing and no lockers. Confirm the current venue before travelling.
