Belfast Kayak Club

Belfast Kayak Club focuses on recreational sea kayaking and whitewater trips around Northern Ireland. Members also paddle open canoes and take part in freestyle and surf kayaking. New paddlers can try four sessions or trips before they need to become members.

Before you join

Adult beginners: Beginner coaching covers boat control and what to do after a capsize. Contact the club through its getting-started page to arrange a trial. After four outings, joining is required to continue paddling. Members can develop their technique through regular skills sessions.
Junior paddlers: Not confirmed in the sources checked. Ask the club directly.
Equipment: Sea and river boats are available to borrow, together with paddles, helmets and spraydecks. The club does not lend personal paddling clothing. It asks for a donation when you borrow kit or attend coaching. Check clothing requirements and equipment availability before attending.
