Before you join

Adult beginners

Beginner sessions run at Mayesbrook Park on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm. They cost £10 for an adult and require advance booking by email because places depend on coach availability. The official 2026 fee image lists annual adult membership at £190, or £171 for residents. Confirm both the session and fee before paying.

Junior paddlers

Beginners must be at least 8. A Saturday session costs £5 for a child. The 2026 membership table lists under-18 membership at £66, or £59.40 for residents. The application asks for parent or guardian details. Contact the club about supervision, swimming ability and the right session for a child.

Equipment

Beginner-session equipment is supplied, including buoyancy aids and waterproof jackets. Membership includes use of club equipment and may include storage for one boat where space is available. Ask about clothing sizes, boat suitability and storage before relying on either.

Accessibility

The reviewed club pages do not publish step-free routes, accessible changing, adaptive boats or support arrangements at the park or River Roding base. Email the club before booking to discuss access, transfer needs and suitable equipment.

Where the club paddles

Mayesbrook Park hosts booked beginner sessions. The River Roding base is for competent paddlers and publishes race and touring training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus Saturday and Sunday mornings. Session times and coach capacity can change, so confirm the current programme first.
