Baldock and District Canoe Club

Baldock and District Canoe Club meets for Sunday evening pool sessions in Letchworth and runs monthly river trips. It welcomes adult beginners through tasters and courses, with canoe polo on the second pool night. Members also paddle whitewater, open canoes and occasional stand-up paddleboards.

Before you join

Adult beginners: Adult beginners can ask about a taster or the current beginner course. Pool sessions begin at 8.15pm on each month's opening two Sundays. The contact page lists a non-member trial at £16 per adult for up to four visits, while the membership page lists £75 annually. Confirm both before attending or paying.
Junior paddlers: The club says it has no junior section. Children can attend only when a member takes responsibility for them. A £10 junior non-member pool price is listed, but that does not create an open junior programme. Families should contact the club before planning a visit.
Equipment: Pool sessions include access to some club kayaks and paddles. Members can also take club boats and other kit from the boat shed without a hire charge. Ask about sizes, collection arrangements and availability for a particular trip.
Accessibility: North Herts Leisure Centre lists accessible parking, ramp and automatic-door access, accessible changing, showers and toilets, a lift, hearing loop and pool hoist. Those features belong to the building. They do not establish volunteer assistance or adapted paddling kit. Discuss individual needs before attending.
Where the club paddles: The Letchworth pool programme uses the opening two Sundays of each month at 8.15pm. The second night includes canoe polo but remains open to other paddlers. River days and longer trips use different venues, so contact the organiser for those meeting points.
